Eight years ago, Karishma Mehta founded Humans of Bombay, inspired by the single idea- we all want to be heard. From the first shoot, where she traipsed Mumbai's iconic Marine Drive, asking strangers to speak with her, she's brought together a team of storytellers and a community of over 3.2 million people who believe in the power of humanity. This book, a collection of some of the best stories documented over the last 8 years, is Karishma's love letter to the people of India. Every story in this collection is unique, inspirational, and relatable, and offers a glimpse into a country with 1.3 billion beating hearts ... one tale at a time.

Karishma Mehta founded Humans of Bombay eight years ago. This book is a collection of some of the best stories she has documented over the past eight years. This book is Karishma Mehta's love letter to the people of India.

Every story here is unique, inspirational, and relatable, and offers a glimpse in the lives of the people of India.

Every story hit me, all in a different way, because they are true. Some were straight forward inspirational and happy stories, while some were bittersweet. Some made me happy, some made me sad, some made me angry. But undoubtedly every story was raw and poignant.

Bonus part is this book has picture for every story, making the story come alive.

I absolutely loved reading this book and cannot recommend it enough. Some of the stories will stick with you for a long, long time.

a collection of some of the best stories of Humans of Bombay.

These stories are inspiring, relatable and to the point. Each story gives us a new perspective towards life. Some stories will shiver you, will bring a smile on your face, Will make you realise, each one of us is fighting our own battle with a mask of smile on our face.

All the stories are beautifully written. The honest, raw stories will touch your heart. Not to forget the stunning smiling pictures with each story that will force us to smile, telling us, there's hope at the end of the road, you need to keep walking.

No wonder, all the stories are amazing, but but My favourite stories are Ratan Tata's story and Ramu's open house story.

“It’s been three years since then and driving this taxi has put me in the driver’s seat of my life.”

A compilation of the most beautiful, some heartbreaking, but breathtaking stories nonetheless.

If you’ve ever read a story on Humans of Bombay’s account and have enjoyed it then you should close your eyes and buy this book. It contains stories which haven’t been published anywhere else and some which were widely popular on their digital account. The experience of reading these stories in a physical copy is absolutely beyond!

The most gut-wrenching section for me was the ‘Chabbis Gyarah’ or the 26/11 section, laid out chronologically by the author. The author has penned down what happened that horrendous day in first person account, from a local stall man to the police officers, all have stated their own experience of it.

I made it a ritual to read one story a day, before going to bed, and I want another copy right away to keep the ritual going. The beautiful companion photographs act like a cherry on the top.

Most of us have seen real stories in @officialhumansofbombay and been inspired by them. This book is the collection of some amazing events with beautiful pictures. These raw and real recollections will touch your heart. I have been reading a few stories every week and getting inspired from all the details!!

Even with all the novels I have, this coffee table read makes a good short story to get me going some days ❤️

And the pictures are so beautiful 😍

Ordinary People Extraordinary Lives is the one of the kind love letter to the people of India, created by Karishma Mehta. With a thought in her mind, that we all want to be heard, some eight years ago, she started giving platform for the amazing stories of the people of Mumbai. Now a huge success Humans of Bombay. This book is the collection of the best documented stories over the years that show the true essence of humanity.

The book is extraordinary as the title itself says, the lives of these amazing people are inspiring, eye-opening and oh so very relatable. The raw unadulterated human emotion in each page of this book places it at the top tier for books to read. This book is an excellent example of the diversity that our country has and the love we can cultivate in the world. With pictures that will make you smile and the words that will make stay with you forever this book is a must read.
