November 22, 2024We love our Westinghouse WGen9500TFc generator, it uses gasoline, Liquid Propane Gas and Natural Gas as fuel and supplies us with up to 9,500w of running power, enough to power all of our electrical needs at home or 'ON-THE-GO' It is a Tri-Fuel unit so it is easily portable. OKLAHOMA is a state that has many tornadoes each year from MAY through November, and with heavy ICE storms December through February, each giving us multiple times or year with extended power outages. This WGen9500TFc unit has (2) Duplex 120v-20A 5-20R CFGI outlets, (1) 120/240v 30A, L14-30R outlet, & (1) 120/240v 50A, 14-50R outlet providing 120v to 240v 60Hz power for us. It moves easily on two large FLAT-FREE tires/wheels, and stabilized by (2) fixed front support legs. It easily hooks up to our existing natural gas line near our bypass switch having a quick connect adapter for the Natural Gas Line (suppled with unit) and allows us to use Liquid Propane with a quick disconnect hose (supplied with unit), and allows us to use the unit remotely with standard pump gas (non-ethanol of course). It assembled quickly, and with the supplied manuals and documents informs you how to properly connect & use your unit. This unit supplies enough wattage to support our whole home needs, thus allowing us not to have to purchase "fixed installation Units", it's easily portable, take any where, use anywhere. It comes with a supplied 12v battery which is mounted to the frame structure and it easily connects with a supplied electrical pigtail. For the 12v battery system, the unit comes with a supplied trickle-charge unit to provide battery charge support. I researched this unit, it's reviews, and shared them with a fellow co-worker whom is a licensed electrical engineer by trade and his thoughts on this unit were very impressive, so we bought one and are glad we did. this unit comes with a 3-year limited warranty, and if you follow the service requirements, it should last you and us, many years of quality service. Thanks Westinghouse for marketing these Tri-Fuel units, it was a great choice for us to be a Westinghouse WGwn9500TFc owner.

October 12, 2024My main requirement for purchasing this WGen9500TFc is that it would run my new 3-ton A/C on Propane, along with the rest of the house. Generator arrived strapped to a small pallet (skid) in perfect condition; unpacked generator, no missing parts and no damage - perfect condition. I did a 5-hour break-in period: 1st hour: no load, oil change, 2nd hour: small, variable load, 2nd oil change, hours 3-5: variable load (0 to 4000 watts), then 3rd oil change (used standard 10W30 oil each time).
The A/C was a new Carrier 3-ton (15 SEER, RLA:12.2, LRA:80.1, MCA: 16.7, Max CKT-BRK: 25 Amps, FLA: 1.40 - NO SOFT START, NO HARD START needed)..
An electrician had already installed the mechanical interlock on the panel and wired it with 6 gauge wire to the outside 50-Amp generator inlet box.
Using a 6-gauge, 50 Amp, 20 foot generator cord, I plugged into the generator 50-Amp outlet and the opposite end into the generator inlet box. With all circuit breakers off and the 200 Amp main off, I turned on the generator. I then turned on the 50 Amp generator breaker, then the A/C and furnace breakers. The thermostat lit up along with a few house LED lights. I then turned the thermostat to cool, lowered the temperature setting, and waited - for a few moments, nothing happened (the electrician said after the power is off, it takes up to 5 minutes for the A/C to turn on the first time) - he was correct - after a few minutes, the A/C turned on, the generator had a momentary change in tone, and the generator and A/C continued running normally. I then turned on every circuit breaker to the house - I ran the whole house, including the A/C, all LED lights in the house, 2 TV's, refrigerator, chest freezer, garage opener, microwave, and the whole time, the generator ran like a champ! The generator still was displaying a normal 240 Volts on its read-out. The only items that I did not try to run were the ELECTRIC CLOTHES DRYER AND ELECTRIC STOVE/RANGE (4000-5000 watts each) - I would have to temporarily turn off the A/C to run either of these (not a problem at all).
I am 100% satisfied with this WGen9500TFc running on propane. I hope this review gives enough details to help others decide if it will work for them.

July 1, 2024I needed a new generator to run 3 sump pumps, a pool pump and well pump in case of an outage (especially in heavy rain conditions), never mind lights or appliances.
I have lived in my house for over 25 years and although I have had “infrequent” outages, some have been lengthy (out for several days) and some have come with lots of rain —- 9” in six hours —- I live in Indiana).
I had an older, noisy generator that could run 2 power cords (plus a couple more using surge strips) to run the sump pumps in the basement and the pool pump to help drain down the pool in case of another massive downpour.
With this generator, I have almost 2x the power I had before, and I will eventually have it switched to the breaker box so I won’t have to string cords down the stairs; and designated circuits will get switched on when the generator is “plugged in”. There should be enough power to run the a/c or furnace if needed.
I’m (72 yr F) and not strong enough anymore to pull stubborn start cords easily and the push start is a godsend (it has a remote starter as well).
I also opted for just the gas powered, as I don’t use propane for anything else, and didn’t want to hook up to the natural gas line (no outdoor shed).
I also like the usb port feature so I can charge my devices (with WiFi unavailable, my phone charge goes down fast), and the carbon monoxide alarm is a good safety feature, along with the gauge to monitor fuel level, run hours, etc. I don’t need to peek into the gas tank with a flash light anymore and guess at how much fuel is left in it. The generator can also automatically adjust the rpm to a lower level so it’s not running at full blast or one run speed when the output needed is small.
The only complaints i have are when I was setting it up —- (1). the quick guide has very small close-up pictures instructing how to put on the 2 wheels and 2 foot brackets. The user manual has much larger and simpler pictures, but I didn’t know that until after assembly. (2). it might also be useful to know that the oil reservoir will take @ 2/3 of the quart of oil (included) to fill—- I probably checked the level 10 times because I was mindful not to overfill. (3) couldn’t find the key fob for some time that was clipped to part of the engine under the top of the machine —— maybe a note with the battery or parts bag (or set-up guide) saying where to find it would be helpful.
Ironically, I had just had the generator delivered 1 1/2 days before a storm and power outage and hadn’t set it up yet, so I had to put it together in semi-darkness in the garage and the power came back on shortly, about the same time as I was filling the oil reservoir.
Otherwise, easy-peasy set-up, and a lovely, quiet machine that stays put and doesn’t dance around.
I am actually looking forward to my next power outage.
Confident this will power my home when needed

November 10, 2024This generator is one of the highest rated ones out there and I did a lot of research before choosing it.
I chose it for several reasons:
Power to price ratio, for the amount of starting watts and running watts this has you will not find a better price.
Low THD, important for when you need to power electronics.
Dual fuel, you never know when you may not have access to gasoline.
Has a 50amp outlet, most generators only have 30amp max. This is going to be connected to my home as a backup power source, and with 50amps it’ll power literally my whole home minus my EV charger.
Remote start, lets you start it up without ever stepping foot outside if you want and worked right out of the box, didn’t have to charge anything or pair anything.
Comes with wheels, I shouldn’t even have to rate this part of it but basically every other generator makes you buy a “wheel kit”.
It was super simple to setup and start up on propane for the first run. You tip the thing over first and foremost and attach the feet and wheels, after that you can wheel it around pretty easily because the plastic wheels are pretty big. I was able to do this all by myself.
I don’t know if it’s actually a Westinghouse product or if they just licensed the name, but it’s a name that I’m familiar with and trust more than the others in the price range.
Now why didn’t I give this five stars? Well, it may not even be Westinghouse’s fault, but mine came with a bunch of cosmetic damage. Lots of scratches and scuffs and part of the frame is actually bent too. Also, the included quart of oil leaked all over. Granted none of this affects functionality, but when you’re shelling out a grand for something you want it to arrive looking brand new. Better packaging could have prevented at least some of the issues.
Overall I definitely recommend this generator and actually plan on purchasing a smaller inverter generator from Westinghouse soon to use as an actual portable power source.
