A good practical book of skills for outback adventures and practical safety not taught in School

Firstly, John Wiseman is the real deal, he has lived, breathed, experienced for real, and survived all and much more that is covered in this handbook. It is not just a guide book for the 'wanna be' Rambo, it is actually a very practical and sensible guide book not too dissimilar from Scouting Bush Craft. It has been updated with sections for modern urban safety, e.g. what to do in a Car issue, practical safety tips. Granted, it covers a lot of skills that most urban dwellers will never ever be interested to know. But what if? on your holiday trip by Air Travel, the plane had to do an emergency landing in a remote location, and you and just a few others were the only survivors. Yes, I know its stuff of the movies, but the potential for it to happen is there. Just having an awareness of some simple practical safety survival skills might make the difference. For example, you've only got one 1L bottle of fresh water between 6 of you, some of you are injured, it's fast approaching evening and you are in the middle of nowhere and it's getting cold or hot and humid, would you know some basics that would make a big difference while you are waiting for rescue? Lastly, why did I get the book, well I was in Scouting when younger, and now later in life I'm enjoying solo Trail / Trekking etc and while I've got a basis idea of first principles if I happened to have an injury, get lost etc, I thought if I only learn one or two things from this book, then it might make a difference. And I'm losing count of the number of really good practical tips / skills I've become aware of in just skim through read. Don't let the title put you off and think it's a 'Rambo' type book, John Wiseman is a wise man passing on valuable experience, enjoy.

Good overall "Survival" book. Good for reference in emergencies when internet may not be available. Has a wide variety of info.... not in extreme depth, but good overall coverage which you can reasonably expect in a one-volume manual.
Survival Bible, need I say more???

Ok, I will say more... This is like the bible of survival! It doesn't show you one thing about anything, it shows several examples of different styles about how to do everything! It includes color pictures that are extremely detailed and easy to recognize for plant life, marine life, insects, reptiles, ect. It includes different sections for different situations like marine survival, urban survival, natural disasters, home security, ect. It's very informative, not embellishing anything, straight to the point. I can't scratch the surface of what is in this book without writing a book about this book and I wouldn't want to ruin the great treat you get from reading it so I'll leave it to you to enjoy the gems found in it. If you are new to the survival or prepper culture , this book will make you an expert in no time!
